Chocolate Date Almond Candy Salami

A fun holiday or any day candy combines, dried fruit, nuts and spices and is rolled and presented to look like a salami!
A fun holiday or any day candy combines, dried fruit, nuts and spices and is rolled and presented to look like a salami!
- 1/3 cup Salted toasted almonds, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup Vanilla wafers, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1-10 oz Package semi sweet chocolate bits /chips, melted
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp Cream
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- 1 tbsp Freshly grated orange peel
- 3/4 cup Chopped fresh California dates (about 8)
- 3 tbsp Confectioners sugar for dusting
Combine the almonds, wafers, and cinnamon in a small bowl . Set aside.
Add the butter to the melted chocolate stir and then stir in the cream and vanilla.
Mix in the orange peel and the dates. Then mix in the almond mixture.
Place a 12 inch long plastic wrap on the counter and spoon the chocolate mixture and roll into a log. Roll the log in the plastic wrap , twist the ends and refrigerate for several hours until firm.
Remove log from the plastic wrap and dust the entire log with confectionery sugar.
For fun you can wrap with kitchen twine to present like a salami or just slice and serve!
